On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) confirmed that technical glitches impacted candidatesβ performance during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The admission came from JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede during a press briefing in Abuja, highlighting challenges that disrupted the examination process for many students.
Oloyedeβs Statement: βWhat should have been a moment of joy has been marred by one or two errors,β Prof. Oloyede acknowledged, taking responsibility for the issues affecting the exam.
JAMB Has Rescheduled
As a result, JAMB has rescheduled the UTME for 379,997 candidates in the South-East and Lagos State, with notifications beginning Thursday, May 15, 2025. This move follows widespread complaints about system malfunctions, raising concerns over the fairness and reliability of the results. Candidates and parents are hopeful for a resolution, while the incident underscores the ongoing need for robust technical infrastructure in Nigeriaβs education system.
